Passive Income Report – June 2021

Throughout these updates we will go over the previous month’s dividend income, as well as our rolling 12 month projected dividend income and our progress towards our goal of having $50,000 in annual passive income. For reference, I received my first ever dividend payment in December 2017, and I immediately realized that they needed to be a prominent part of our any investment strategy.

In short – June was a great month for dividend income (as it is for most Canadians). We crushed it this month on our way to just narrowly setting a new personal best in monthly income!

Since we’re so excited about this months totals let’s skip over the small talk and get straight into them:

Dividends Received: $1,098.29

As we’ll show you down below $1,098 just eek’d out the top spot ever over March 2021. This was in large part thanks to 3 of our favourite holdings:

Enbridge (ENB.TO) 23.8%
Canadian Utilities (CU.TO) 13%
Fortis (FTS) 9.4%

These 3 companies paid out a total of ~47% of our monthly income in June and as they continue to be 3 of our largest holdings this is a trend you’re going to see more of as we move forward.

Dividends Received YoY: $5,036.39

A 17% YoY growth is as we’ve mentioned before settling into more realistic territory. In the early days of our portfolio we were getting 100’s of % YoY growth which has been stepping down as each year passes. Still, a 17% pay increase is more than anything work is currently giving to us so we’ll take it.

At the half way point in the year we’re officially at $5,036 which puts us on track for our first ever 5-figure year which seems like it will almost certainly be happening for us at this point!

We thought about adding in our options premiums to this table now that we’re selling a few covered calls but decided against it just to keep things clear. Maybe in the future we will make a post detailing exactly how that endeavour is going as it’s something we’re really enjoying doing right now.

Now, here’s how our next 12 months project:

Dividend Projections: $11,427.86

The current stats on our dividend portfolio are:

Portfolio Value: $ 278,371.80 (+$7k)
Dividend Value: $ 11,427.15 (+$200)
Portfolio Yield: 4.11 %
