Passive Income Report – February 2021 ($550.76)

Throughout these updates we will go over the previous month’s dividend income, as well as our rolling 12 month projected dividend income and our progress towards our goal of having $50,000 in annual passive income. For reference, I received my first ever dividend payment in December 2017, and I immediately realized that they needed to be a prominent part of our any investment strategy.

February was another month of minor changes for our overall portfolio, if you’ve been following along with us for a while you’ll know that our “target allocations” and actual are still apart so that’s leading to us gradually making some sales and reallocating funds to balance things out.

With that being said we actually lost a little bit of projected passive income as we sold off chunks of some high yielding stocks like Brookfield Property (BPY.UN), Altria (MO) and completely sold off portions in some REITs like Plaza REIT (PLZ.UN) and Artis REIT (AX.UN).

Just by their nature these REITS and Altria pay out rather high dividend yields but we decided it was better to spread that money out over more dividend aristocrats for the long term health of our portfolio.

Now, let’s move on to why you’re here! Let’s look at some dividend numbers!

Dividends Received: $550.76

Here’s a little snapshot of our account from Wealthica.

As you can see we received a whopping 18 dividend payouts in the month of February. We love seeing this number in the double digits because it reduces the stress with receiving a dividend cut. AT&T and TD Bank did account for nearly 40% of the months payouts however, as you can see in the two larger pie slices to the right.

Dividends Received YoY:

$550.76 is a 76% growth rate year over year from February 2020 which keeps us right in line with the first two months of 2020. The real separation between last year and this year should start next month as we’re anticipating our first $1,000+ month in March 2021.

As you can tell by the above table the dividend snowball is alive and well in our portfolio.

Dividend Projection: $10,164.48

The current stats on our portfolio are:

Portfolio Value: $ 236,200.57
Dividend Value: $ 10,164.47
Portfolio Yield: 4.30 %
