Passive Income Report – December 2021

Throughout these updates we will go over the previous month’s dividend income, as well as our rolling 12 month projected dividend income and our progress towards our goal of having $50,000 in annual passive income. For reference, I received my first ever dividend payment in December 2017, and I immediately realized that they needed to be a prominent part of our any investment strategy.

First off, let’s get things started with a “HAPPY NEW YEAR!” to all our friends out there who might be viewing today’s post.

We’re pretty excited to start off the New Year and have some high expectations for the year to come, though with our second child on the way due for spring time most of our goals are family and lifestyle related rather than financial.

That’s enough 2022 talk, let’s get back to the topic here which is our final passive income report of 2021!

Dividends Received: $1,135.57

$1,135.57 is officially our highest month ever!

It narrowly eclipsed the $1,133.65 from October so that’s great to see capping off the year.

This is also an amazing 38% growth Year-over-Year from the $824.75 we received in December 2020.

Our three biggest payers of the month were ENB, FTS and CU. As these are 3 of our larger holdings that all pay out on the same date they usually really boost our quarterly payouts on their own.

Now let’s look back on the year that was:

Dividends Received YoY: $10,911.81

Seeing a growth of over $2,800 from 2020’s total was awesome, but we’re going to need to keep pushing forward to hit our long term goals.

Without doing any serious calculating, a tentative goal for 2022 would be $14,000 but since most of our lower yielding positions are already mostly filled out in our portfolio we could see our dollars being pumped into higher yields – thus boosting our income a little extra.

Now let’s get on to the projections as it stands:

Dividend Projections: $12,472.73

Portfolio Value: $ 345,660.23 (+$21k)
Dividend Value: $ 12,472.73 (+$400)
Portfolio Yield: 3.61 %

  1. Great Article am a new subscriber and really enjoying see your progress. Goodluck with everything for 2022.

I have question since you mentioned that you guys are from UK and am from UK as well but living in Canada for the last 6 years or so. I wanted to ask you are you guys Contributing to the Class B pension for UK expat? I have been contributing towards it around 160pounds / year as being a non resident. Please do an article if you have more information on it. Like when the right age comes and when we want to bring that pension money to Canada will we have to take any Tax hits on that income? As while building my dividend portfolio this question comes up as I will be making 15000GPB /year in Annual income from that UK GOV pension so that really helps me push down my Dividend earning goals here in Canada lets say if I want to retire by $50000 /yr CAD so am accounting it like this $50000-(15000GBP) to figure out my realistic number. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and being so open about your portfolios and holding Goodluck!!!
